This page will always be as the title suggests. This section will be where I will publish thoughts and testimony, to share from the Bible and encourage.
I am going to start leaving the previous month's blog up and as well as the current month. I am trying to find out how I can have a page where I can leave a link to all previous issues or perhaps last few months at least - watch this space!
Why everything seems to be going wrong or life is not how you expected or wanted it to be!!!!
What do you when??
-
the rubber hits the road
-
it's all gone pear-shaped
-
the wheels fell off
-
that plan went sideways
to ease the mood here are some lighter hearted expressions....
-
It's like a soup sandwich - completely falling apart and impossible to handle without making a mess
-
It's like a rubber chicken at a banquet hall - tough, uninviting and bouncing back no matter how hard you try
-
About as much fun as stepping on Lego in the dark.
These expressions are familiar when everything appears or feels like it is going wrong.
When I committed my life to Christ it was partly as a result of a conversation I had with someone already going to a Church nearby. They were only trying to be encouraging but I joined the Church with this idea that everything would be great and I would have no more problems!! I quickly learnt that was not the case! But, what do you do?? In my early days following Christ, I will admit, I had plenty of 'poor old me' parties. Yet, I learnt over time, that God never promised we would not have trouble but He did promise that He would always be with us.
I listened to someone preach last year who faces a situation on a daily basis. They expressed that they still pray to God about the situation, they still believe God can change it. Do they have days of doubt and frustration - yes, but do they 'hang up the phone to God'?? That has really stuck with me, what do we do, hang up the phone to God????
In John 6 there comes a point where many disciples are deserting Jesus. When Jesus said to Simon Peter, "You don't want to go away too, do you?" Simon Peter replies in v 68 "Lord, to whom will we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God"
I always think of this, where and to whom else can I go??
John 16 v 33
"I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous I have conquered the world"
John 14 v 27
"Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don't let your heart be troubled or fearful"
Hebrews 5 v 13 this scripture is talking about keeping our life free from the love of money, but in the middle it says words often quoted, " I will never leave you or abandon you"
I know there will be many more scriptures, but these were the ones that came to mind.
To close, I am going to quote a scripture that talks about our trials and the good they can actually do!! - I feel the sigh of acknowledgement of where I am going here. It's one of those moments, where as soon as someone gives the scripture reference you know what is coming.
Rom 5 v 3-5
And not only that, but we also rejoice in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance, endurance produces proven character and proven character produces hope. This hope will not disappoint us, because God's love had been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Something else I always remember someone saying once is, "God is more interested in our character than our comfort"
